Hi, I’m Lucy. I know I said I wasn’t going to start blogging until after I had fully recovered from the cut the vetdoc made on my belly. But I think you, my new friends, need to know what has happened around here. First, I kept waking Amy up during the night with what she called my incest licking. Or something like that. I couldn’t help it, the glued-together cut on my belly has been bothering me. She punished me by going out all alone with Jeff to a place called church this morning. When they got back, Amy took one look at my red belly and put this thing on me. I don’t understand why she would put something on me that she said would interfere with my prayerful vision. Or something like that. I can only see what is right in front of me, and I am freaking out every time I get a glimpse of something off to the side. What if aliens are coming at me? Or squirrels?

I know there is a boat in the driveway, so I thought maybe this was my life vest and we were going boating. Nope, just a walk down the street and back, and not a very long one at that. I am being a very good girl. Can anyone help me get this off?

hello lucy its dennis the vizsla dog hay i am sorry yoo ar havving truble with yowr owtchee i hope the vetnameez folks got it fiksd up now!!! and dont wurry my sister trixie yoozed to ware wun of those life preserver things frum time to time so yoo ar in gud kompanee!!! ok bye

Oh, you poor thing! Like some of the others have said, a donut is better than a cone and looks somewhat comfortable if you actually lay down on it (???) We are humans so we might now understand 🙂 I hope you get better soon!!

yes, that was my first thought too… it could be the equipment for a cruise on your boat… but it seems it is a different thingy…. I hope it helps that your tongue will not meet that cut-area too often, butt I know such cuts are like magnets for our tongue… Hugs to you and POTP for a speedy recovery :o)

Hi Christmas. I bet with a name like that you get lots of pressies. I am on a special lamb and rice diet, and Amy found me good treats I can eat, too. I will see if I can have more.

Shelby was wearing two cones of shame after her surgery for her leg. One was not enough. You might try a tee shirt to keep her belly from being irritated on carpet or other flooring.

I will let Amy try one on me and see. thanks.

Oh so sorry to hear about that ouchie. If that cone bothers you too much you should try one like this: (it comes in different sizes)

Thanks for trying to help me out. Amy says no, I will have to wear this one for just a few days. She said free dogs are a contradiction in terms, whatever that means.

OMD! Lucy, be happy it’s the soft donut and not the hard plastic lampshade. Mom#2 is just trying to help you heal. Don’t worry about the squirrels or aliens. Mom#2 will protect you. *Ear licks*

Amy tried the hard lampshade first but it was too small and I woke her up again licking. I am getting the idea that is not a good thing to do. She kicked me out of the bedroom. Well, not kicked as with her foot. But she opened the door and told me to get out then shut it once I got to the other side. Who is Mom #2?

Kicked out of the bedroom? Ugh! The worst! Mom #2 is Amy. She’s my back-up Mom. She loves me like I’m her own. That’s how you’re my sister. 😛

Oh. I want a Mom #2. I am very needy when it cones to love. And I got kicked out of the bedroom again last night. My bed has been moved to the living room. I think this is where I will be sleeping now.

OK, Siddhartha Henry. My goodness, there are a lot of cats blogging. I thought it would be just dogs. Kosmo asked if we could be friends. Maybe that would be a good thing. Maybe if we show the people we can all be friends, they can start getting along better even when they are different.

Lucy, that looks better than the “cone of shame” that most dogs have to wear. We both think you look pretty cute for a dog.

That is not fair that you have to have your vision impeded. We do hope you get to use your life preserver on a nice boat trip sometime this summer. Here’s hoping for a quick recovery.

I’d keep quiet. If you say you don’t like it, you may get one of those “cones of shame” instead. Avoid those at all costs.

Oh sweet Lucy. So sorry you have a cut along with the itchies. On the plus side, you might be able to pick up HBO or Cinemax which might distract you long enough to heal. Feel better soon. ღ

Thanks. I can still pick everything up that I want. Walking outside is the best distraction, but it is dark and raining again.

OMGoodness, L. Not having “prayerful vision” sounds dangerous. Plus boring. You could miss floor food, crumbs, spiders, or toys out of your sight. That ring looks more comfy than the cone I had to wear. I looked like an idiot in that thing. Plus, Mom’s old dog took her own stitches out once, so there’s that…. Stay strong, sweetie. Soon this will all be behind you and wild and crazy playtime will be ahead.
Love and licks,
Cupcake

I’ve only got one toy and I’m not interested in it. I don’t remember ever having one before. I bet you didn’t really look like an idiot Cupcake. You look like a lot of fun. I hope Amy takes me to play with other dogs when I am all better. I need to run more.

Hi Lucy, the thing around your neck is important for you, but only for some days.
I know you are in a loving family, they do everything for your best. My name is Kosmo, a cat, do you think we can be friends. You look so kind, and I am a simple and humble cat.
Bye!

Why is it those humans insist on impeding our prayerful vision?? I am also confined to those donuts when I lick my itchies too much…I’m with the Canadian Kitties, do all the “poor pitiful me looks” for as many treats as you can get!

So your people do this to you too, Arty? Has a squirrel ever gotten in the house and snuck up and bit you cause you had no prayerful vision?

Going boating is the only reason to wear that! Licking is important. Hope you cut heals soon.

Yes, why doesn’t she understand that licking is important!?

Hi Lucy! We’re sorry your incision is itchy, the two of us are very familiar with wearing the cone of royalty as we call it at our house. We hope you heal fast so you don’t have to wear it for long. Maybe Amy can get something from the vetdoc to help you not be so itchy.

MOL…you look funny!! We get the cone of shame if we pick at ourselves. Mom is relentless about this so we don’t pick away anymore..we know whats going to happen. You are young yet Lucy and we learn from every experience my new friend. This won’t last long but you are getting the idea to look pitiful and then treats may come your way.

We’d laugh at any anipal all done up like that. I laugh at kali when she gets the Cone of Shame and she laughs at me. Why? It’s because the kit in the cone has probably pulled a no no and kept licking when mom said no, don’t do that. Am I right?

Hi Lucy: Humans do these things for our own good (although I don’t always agree with them!). I’ve never had to wear one of those things but, a long time ago now, I was feeling really sick and a vet pushed a humungous needle thing into my lower back. I could not find a comfortable position to rest in after that and hardly slept that night. I later had two more repeats! Anyway, after being confined for a few months, I started to feel so much better so I guess they knew what they were doing! Be patient friend Lucy. Woof! Ray.
