I’ve been itching. It’s that time of year, I’m told. At first, Mommy had high hopes that my allergy serum injections would finally keep me from itching this year. I think I’m doing better, but I’m still itchy. My ears itch, so I scratch right under them. Then I always get something called a hot spot. Mommy started treating the new hot spot with some Tea Tree Essential Oil mixed in coconut oil. Then, this morning, Mommy found another hot spot under my other ear. I had been scratching during the night, and no one knew because “dogs aren’t allowed to sleep in the bedroom” anymore. Something about the peeps not getting any rest with us there. So now, Mommy is mixing Oregano Essential Oil in coconut oil and putting it on both hot spots. And I have to wear the cone.

At least I can see the ‘puter and still help Mommy in her home office.
I am still Xena Schnauzer Warrior Princess
Lulu: “Poor Xena! I sure hope those hot spots go away soon, because nobody likes the Cone of Shame!”
Chaplin: “Well, I think it’s kind of funny when dogs have to wear them …”
Charlee: “You would.”

Give aloe vera a try. I always have a plant in the garden and take a small piece and rub on the itch. Be careful with tea tree oil.

Thanks for the warning. Yes, I am careful with the tea tree oil, which is why I switched to oregano oil. It’s a hot oil, but I put it in a lot of coconut oil. I just looked up aloe vera, and saw it kills staph, which is what hot spots are. I had no idea. I am going to get a plant this weekend. Thanks!!

A little piece will give you plenty of plants.I’ve been using it for years.

Good to know. I’m going to buy a plant today. I used to have this years ago just because I have a purple thumb and killed everything except succulents and some vines.

It is similar to a succulent. or is one.

Buggar!! Literally…bugs ahoy!If it’s allergies its still a booger. Do these allergies ever pass. Kali would have loved the oregano oil and thought she smelled wonderful. Oregano was her catnip.
You take care Xena. I sure don’t envy you the cone, A fancy collar that’s way too big.

The allergy shot I get every week is supposed to help, so I would hate to see how bad it would be without my sea rum. Most of this passes around the end of October when the weather changes. XOX Xena

So sorry you’ve been plagued with the itchies and hot spots. Diluted oregano can also help with ear yeast infections but your mum probably already knows that. Feel better soon and enjoy the cable while you have it. 😉

poor baby! Hoping you get some relief soon. My Cody used to get hot spots and I wish I knew your Mom then because your Mom treats them naturally, the Vet used to put Cody on Pred, which does work, but isn’t healthy for him 😦 Feel better sweetness!

Mommy says “NO” to pred and most medicines that doc tries to give us when our usual dogtor isn’t there. (She says no a lot.)

Blerg. The cone always helps when it makes an appearance. Once I was itchy and that was the only way I got better. Plus when Mom gets it out, I think it’s an outfit and run to get it on my head. Then I’m all, “What just happened here?” Good luck, sweetie.
Love and licks,

Good to know. Mommy tries to do everything “natural.” What hasn’t worked so far is natural flea repellant. * sigh*
