Independence Day USA by Lucy

I have to make this kinda’ quick, cause I just found out my bestie, Ella, and my guy, Achilles are on their way. They are visiting me for a week while their folks go somewhere else. Ella was real sick a couple of weeks back, and ended up having surgery and on heavy antibiotics. It had something to do with her gut. I am so happy she’s ok and able to make the three hour trip!

Now, to do my 4th of July post…

For those who aren’t from here: On July 4th, the Continental Congress formally adopted the Declaration of Independence, which had been written largely by Thomas Jefferson. Though the vote for actual independence took place on July 2nd, from then on the 4th became the day that was celebrated as the birth of American independence.

Today, in honor of all the men and women who helped make us a free nation, I told Mom I wanted to post my video from two years ago. As a repost, we didn’t know how to delete the comments from then, so please feel free to just add some woofs, meows and howdys to them!!

Happy 4th of July

Xena: Our friend, Miss Vickie, made us special scarves for this great holiday. We hope that all dogs everywhere get great scarves on this special day.

Lucy: Uh, I think what Xena meant to say is, we wish for everyone on the earth to be able to live happy and free from cruel owners and rulers.

Xena: Sure, that too. And don’t make any big boom noises today!

Lucy’s Artsy 4th of July

Since Ella – who I have never met  – got to star in her own artsy fartsy day on Saturday, I politely asked for equal time. After all, I was also neglected (OK, Dad was here, but ya’ll know it’s not the same) while Mom went and lavished all her love on that Piper dog. But I’ve already told you about that earlier today. Mom said she would make an exception to her no-more-than-one -post-a-day rule just for me. That means I get to join in the Cat on my Head Sunday Selfies! Yay! Mom made it all patriotic for the birthday of our country, the already great U.S. of A. I tried to pose extra pretty, so I hope you like it.

Love and wags, Lucy
